Second leaguers Union won 3-1 Sunday, Feb. 12, against Armenia Bielefeld at home. They’re now in 4th place in the minor league. They play in Karlsruhe today (Sunday, Feb. 19).
Berlin’s professional women’s team, Turbine Potsdam, was to have taken on Hoffenheim in the Karl Liebknecht stadium in Potsdam Sunday but the recent rough weather has left the pitch unplayable. A make-up match is scheduled for March 12.
And the hibernating Eisbären, the Hauptstadt’s hockey team, were shut out 0-2 in Cologne on Sunday, Feb. 12, but awoke from their slumber Friday at home to beat the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in the Mercedes Arena 4-1. They’ve stumbled up a place to 9th in the Telekom hockey league. Next up: The Krefeld Pinguine in Krefeld Tuesday and then ERC Ingolstadt back at the Mercedes Arena Friday.
Finally: Alba Berlin, the basketball team, also faced Bayern Munich’s basketball team Saturday at the Mercedes Arena for the TOP4 tournament and lost 78-70. They face the Riesen Ludwigsburg today in an attempt to salvage third place. Their next league game isn’t until March.
