Berlin Police on Sunday, March 19, said they were looking for a gray-haired man suspected of murdering a 41-year-old artist Saturday and setting her studio ablaze.
A Sunday autopsy confirmed Ewa Kacprzykowska had been murdered in her studio in Pücklerstrasse, police said. The suspect had been seen jumping from her window into the building’s courtyard.
“[The suspect] speaks English very well and has said he is from Belgium,” the Berliner Polizei said.
Firefighters were called to the victim’s apartment at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday because of a fire in the studio. While putting out the blaze, the firefighters discovered the woman unconscious.
They were unable to revive her and felt her wounds were not consistent with a fire.
The Berliner Zeitung says the woman was active in Berlin’s SM scene but it’s not known if there’s a connection with the murder — or if that’s why cops now that weird detail about his language abilities and nationality.
Anyone with information about the case or the suspect is asked to call the homicide division in Keithstrasse at (030) 4664 – 911 222.
