Another weekend, another two murders.
Police arrested a man following a fatal nightclub shooting in the early hours of Saturday and have also arrested a 30-year-old suspect after a woman fell 17 stories from a Leipziger Strasse skyscraper in Mitte later that day.
One man was killed and three were injured — including the shooter — following a fight in front of the Neu-Hohenschönhausen Cozy Club nightclub, according to the Berliner Polizei and a BZ report. The club is popular with Berlin’s Russian ex-pats.
The shooting occurred about 2:15 a.m. and the shooter reportedly emptied the magazine in his Glock handgun. The fatally wounded victim may not have been involved in the fracas while another victim was a bouncer at the club in Ribnitzer Strasse, according to the BZ.
The shooter was then reportedly beaten and left in serious condition. He was later arrested in the hospital.
In Leipziger Strasse, witnesses saw a 29-year-old woman fall from the 16th floor of a residential skyscraper. She died at the scene and police said the circumstances of the fall may point to murder.
The shooting comes a little over a week after two murder victims were discovered in two different areas of western Berlin Sept. 9. In Steglitz, the body of a 47-year-old transient was found with stab wounds while in Tiergarten, a 60-year-old art historian was discovered near Bahnhof Zoo.
No arrests have been made in the death of the homeless man but a suspect was arrested in Warsaw in the death of the art historian.
